Next Chapter Skirt & Sleeves (BA1b)

This project was the reworking of a shirt, taking two aspects and redesigning them into a new garment. I chose Button stand & sleeves as my shirt aspects, making a 3m long skirt and gathering it at the waist. It is fully adjustable allowing for anyone no matter their size or gender, to wear it. My influences were mushrooms and books, centring on trees as my starting point. The pleated inserts in the sideseams are resemble the gills of a mushroom and book pages. The title 'Next Chapter' is the life after a tree dies, either taken over by fungi or made into paper. The sleeves are also elasticated around the upper arm and feature the same pleats and buttons as the shirt.

All made out of organic cotton canvas, hand dyed yellow with custom UV printed wooden buttons with the collection name.
