My year 2 project was based on my adventures to The Lakes in August of 2023. I took inspiration from the topography of the land and designed a pattern which I'd later use as a motif throughout my work.
The ski-suit has a zip at the waist to make the jacket and trousers removable to be worn seperately, with the waistband of the trousers a pull cord to adjust sizing. The jacket features a large back pocket, using warning labels from an old tent as nods to my adventures. I also used all 75m of paracord from the tent as pull cords or accessories in this piece.
Creating a zerowaste pattern was a fantastic experience, and the university was donated many meters of deadstock fabric and lining so the entire ski-suit is not only zero waste, but also deadstock fabrics.
For the second garment, I made a bucket hat with the same motif embroidered on the front and the shapes taken into the rim of the hat. Offcuts of denim from a previous project and the deadstock lining dyed green to pull from my natural colour scheme.
